What is an Inflatable Operator?

An inflatable operator is the person directly responsible for the safe setup, operation and monitoring of inflatable play equipment during use. They play a vital role in ensuring that the equipment is installed correctly, operated in accordance with manufacturer instructions, and supervised appropriately throughout the event.

Operators are expected to understand key safety requirements, including site suitability, anchorage systems, weather monitoring, user management and emergency procedures. They must be able to identify potential hazards, respond to changing conditions, and take appropriate action to protect users and bystanders.

Whether working for a hire company, leisure venue, school, local authority or event organiser, a trained operator helps ensure inflatable equipment is used safely, professionally and in line with recognised industry standards. The PIPA Inflatable Operator Training Module provides the practical knowledge and confidence needed to carry out these responsibilities effectively and support a safe, enjoyable experience for all users.
