In 2025, PIPA released version 1 of IS010 about operations manuals.

The use of operations manuals have always been a requirement to be issued by manufacturers under health & safety law and the standard, and used by controllers. But the implementation of their use has been variable.

 This has left the industry at risk in the event of an accident.

IS010 was introduced to help improve standards across the industry, and protect everyone from controllers, to end users.

Version 2 has of IS010 has now been released

This provides clarity on the requirements of an operation manual, and provides clear guidance for controllers on how to risk assess and create an operations manual where their manufacturer no longer exists.
